Mediation Success Tips Videos

Hillside in autumn with brightly colored trees and grasses

Earlier this week I launched a YouTube channel called Ben Feldman - Mediation Success Tips. So far, I've released one video—on the power of listening to understand in mediation.

I plan to release at least nine more videos over the coming year.

My goal in creating this video series is to give people thinking about, preparing for, or already participating in divorce, family, or couples mediation some practical tips on how to get the most from their mediation sessions. I want people who are new to mediation to have a clearer sense of what goes on in mediation and how I run my sessions. I also want people to feel prepared to bring their best selves to the process so they can achieve their goals—which almost always include working through real disagreements with another person.

I also want people to feel a little more hopeful. I’ve seen people use strategies like the ones I talk about to reach understandings that change relationships and futures.

That said, these videos are not homework. You don’t need to watch them to do important work with a mediator. You don’t need to perfect your communication or conflict-resolution skills to reach agreements that lead to a better tomorrow. As I say in the first video, your mediator is here to help. I’m here to guide the conversation and help all parties get where they need to go.

For many people, the big accomplishment is simply showing up to mediation and being true to themselves and their families.

I invite you to watch the videos. Just as important, though, please reach out if you would like to set up a consultation to see whether your concern is a good fit for mediation. And if we’re already working together, keep letting me know what you need in order to feel supported in your mediation sessions.
